Fishing
I entered the Anderson County Fair this with a wood art piece I call “Fishing”. Today I got news!

Last year, I entered this piece made of paper and embellishments:

My confidence is accepting myself.
Soul Pool
Soul Pool
I have existed for eons before I was born
As a descendant of my womenfolk
Who have cradled me within their wombs
Nurturing my spirit they have always known
Just as I know them in my aging, dusty carcass
Animated by their tribal songs that lent me their breath
Extending their pneuma into my mortality
Anointing me with collective wisdom as my inheritance
Courage emblazoned like a scarlet letter;
ushered in with fiercest loyalty
Resilience bestowed as an endowment of hope
Strength of a champion intrinsically passed down
I am born again and again, basking in the immortality
Reveling in the joyful victories of lives well lived
Lamenting the horrors and pains that are birthed;
And rebirthed, and again
I am my mother’s eyes, my grandmother’s faith,
My great-grandmother’s charm,
my great-great-grandmother’s muscle memory
I am because of their willingness to grant me
This Soul Pool in which I float and swim
What…?
What hands have held my face, to stare into my soul?
What lips have breathed a lifetime of my kisses stole?
What voice has whispered me my truth, my secrets sealed untold?
What arms have held me in a haven, my broken heart consoled?
What legs have walked a million miles to arrive upon my threshold?
What heart has answered the siren’s song our bindings to behold?
What worth is placed on eternal devotion, more valuable than gold?
What gifts be given to thine own true love, from youthful glow to old?

The Redolent Hummingbird
A hum of honeyed gifts
Flutter-flying delicacy
On a hovering whisper
Of nectar filled breezes
Uplifted by psychedelicacies
That tilt lustily to paint
The tender tongued promises
of tiny quilt colored avians
Releasing their tasty philanthropy
Of sensual blossoms to the skies
Pearls=Wisdom
I can’t but I can
I can’t tell you where to find your peace of mind
or to hear the voice of the Universe coursing with power
or to notice the song of the world’s orchestra as it plays
or even to taste the brisk of sharpened words.
I can’t show you the color of your balanced spirit
or tell you the tale of your sacred birth
or cherish the moment of truth you witnessed
or embrace the love you so rightfully deserve
I can’t marry you to your passion for life
or point you in the direction most profound
or take away anything you’ve learned
or dictate your growth rate in any form
What I can do is:
hug you
reassure you
encourage you
believe in you
support you
hear you
see you
love you
NaPoWriMo: Thirteen Weeks
Give, Receive, Love
With open heart and willing hands I give to you my gifts
I lay them on the blooming altar to do with as you wish
For when I walk in faith and trust I take such grand adventures
But they never seem to work quite right unless I allow surrender
With open mind and willing heart I will receive your blessings
I wrap them up with loving arms the joys of not repressing
For when I walk in grace and trust, I gain such grand adventures
They always flow as smooth as water, these my greatest treasures
With sacred heart and open mind I’m willing to offer love
As I give so shall I receive from all Watchtowers, below and above.
For when I shine in spirit love, I find a peaceful center
With conscious thought and mindfulness the Otherwhere I enter.
The Blue Screen of Life
I’m resting my face in the comfortable bluish white glow of my laptop
Staring at the screen as my friends parade by with a wild array of emotions.
I see a link one has posted and I click to see what interests them
The pictures move me to wellies, but that’s not the only reason I weep.
You see, I’m grateful in my heart and spirit for so many things
That I can’t contain the joy, the peace, the beauty that is my soul song.
The band of merry-makers parades down my cheeks in a wild array of emotions
Displaying colors and words of excitement, glee, hope, and cherished gratitude.
I can carry my banner with the honor to my mother and dad whom I love dearly.
I can tip my top hat in celebration of those beautiful souls that orbit their light
With belief that the Universe knows, heeds, and believes back.
I wipe the tears away but my heart is so full, I keep leaking happies and joy.
If you hold out your hand and take mine. If you trust yourself to believe,
I can entrust a part of me to you and you to me that together we’ll go far as can be
And then we’ll jump even farther, travel the world of possibilities, explore new lands
Oh the stories of love and adventure we’ll bring home from the farthest reaches.
Which will only encourage others to parade around with their own banners
Declaring openly their wide array of emotions all born from the nurturing love of an idea.
