Shadow Bones

I see you there in the shadows pretending you don’t see me.
I’m not there to hurt you, but to love you without question.
To you that may seem an impossible task because “Who’d love you?”
I’ll take out my soul light, holding it high in the air dissipating
The aura of unworthiness, the wall of hostile protection
The child that feels as lost as I have felt
I hear your cries in the dark as the nightmares scream
I’m not there to harm you, but to comfort your fears tenderly
That may feel unlikely considering the state you’re in
I’ll hold up my soul light, filled with love so the dark can’t have
Your rebirth into fruitfulness, your abundance like pomegranate
The child that screams with a voice now heard, like mine.
I feel your heart fighting as fiercely as a cornered animal
I’m not here to defeat you, but to support your victory
You believe you are broken, but I see the power of your will
I’ll offer my soul light as your shield as you fight for you
For your dreams, happiness, love, peace, your very spirit
That child that is frantic to stay safe knows me
I can’t offer redemption. I can’t even offer you a path.
What I can give you is my deepest support as you traverse
Acceptance of your divinity, your understanding of love
Your worthiness of compassion, your gift of kindness
I offer my soul light so you can find your own.
That child knows I am free, release the regrets
Bloom into the garden of unique flora and fauna.
Here, have some of my seeds.

Be At Peace

Be at peace, my brothers and sisters,
shine your beacon where you roam
Know your power, my bloodkin,
Let love call you home.
Be at peace, my beloved friends,
Bring our spirits passions kept
Be at peace my loved ones
Be at peace with your deepest depths.
Cost of Living

How much am I worth to you?
Another theater, another school?
Another place where people gather
Out in public, or doesn’t it matter?
How much can I pay you for
your children’s blood on classroom floors?
How much is the fiance’ worth
if she’s wedding before the baby’s birth?
Tell me, because I don’t want your guns
you can keep them, I’m wanting none.
If you collect or if you hunt
I have no interest in killing your fun.
But any sane person should agree
that these “daily” mass killings are a spree
With romanticized violence the law of the land,
as responsible owners, please take a stand.
Show them what it means to be smart
Give us something, someplace to start
I don’t want to be afraid to go to the store
become another pawn in this domestic war
If it happens to one it’s a tragedy
but if it happens to more, a statistic you’ll be
Terrorism doesn’t have the brown skin like we’re told
It’s the murderer’s body count, sin chillingly cold.
Do not be afraid
As you are an ocean of tears, so are you a world of forgiveness. A haven of justice filtered through human imperfections that allows opportunity for love with each challenge to your comfort.
You possess free will enough to elect whether you embrace change or if you allow fear to petrify your heart into jaded segments. How can you gaze upon a child’s pain with no desire to make the world innocent for them; for yourself?
It is inevitable that your faithful trust in your brethren will be accosted with confusion or anger towards your generosity. But, the price you pay now, will be small compared to the cost of refusal should you deny your righteous compass.
Turn to your true north, even being different than your friends, to find what makes your spirit, your very essence scream with the ecstasy of rapturous delight. Give permission to yourself to be extraordinarily outstanding in a world that only allows what is nurtured to bloom and grow.
If you find yourself in the forest of darkness with bruised, bloodied, or damaged limbs falling from your own family tree, notice where they’re planted. See how shallow or how deeply those roots linger in the earth by releasing your primal self to its care.
Drink from the knowledge of the river bend that granted your ancestors life to flood your own flesh. Sing in the voice of your grandmother, your grandfather, and those back to the beginning of time’s pacing.
Decree your path without word because what you say can be erased, what you do is how you progress through your life unhindered; calling like-minded to your shores. The shores of the ocean of tears that surrounds your world of forgiveness are yours for the sake of personal redemption.

A book that looks at the deep levels of poverty most of us don’t see is a must read.

Opinion: Rev. Morrill addresses ‘Black Lives Matter’
This past July, a church committee requested a new message on the electronic sign, which faces the Oak Ridge Turnpike. The message they requested was “Black Lives Matter.” The board of the Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church, or ORUUC, voted to approve it, and the message was added to the sign’s series of scrolling messages.

Not as it appears
You are merely a distraction
meant as a detraction
from the deep dissatisfaction
of a dying way of life.
The marionette strings you’re dancing
are pulled by those amassing
obscene amounts of financing
with your divisive strife
You are the sleight of hand
given up as sacrificial lamb
with back-room deals grandstand
back-stabbed by Judas’ knife
I am not to judge your place
or spit into your unwitting face
as you spout you’re in god’s holy grace
while playing at Lot’s wife
I hope that what you’re saved from
in total and in sum
bring you to a better place to rest your bum
with a small bit of advice
Matthew 22:36-40,
and although it may feel a tad bit warty,
is what Jesus said while commandment sortie,
Commanded not once, but twice.
I can’t but I can
I can’t tell you where to find your peace of mind
or to hear the voice of the Universe coursing with power
or to notice the song of the world’s orchestra as it plays
or even to taste the brisk of sharpened words.
I can’t show you the color of your balanced spirit
or tell you the tale of your sacred birth
or cherish the moment of truth you witnessed
or embrace the love you so rightfully deserve
I can’t marry you to your passion for life
or point you in the direction most profound
or take away anything you’ve learned
or dictate your growth rate in any form
What I can do is:
hug you
reassure you
encourage you
believe in you
support you
hear you
see you
love you
