Oceans

I’ve stepped into the waters of grief and drowned in the depths.

When I couldn’t breathe, I learned how to swim.

But when the shore isn’t to be found and my feet couldn’t find purchase, I became a bobber. Sinking as the waves washed over me, rising on fond memories. And even when I was ready to allow the depths to claim me, somehow, I learned to float which eventually led me, once again, to the calm shores where I could breathe again, reflecting as I watched my reflection. Until the sea again calls, I wait unwittingly at the waters edge for the next time I will be one with the ocean.
